Bartlett Wade
Murphy, Jr
Oct 16, 1974 — Oct 2, 2026
Bartlett Wade Murphy Jr., affectionately known as "Little Bart," 51, of Tilghman Island, Maryland, passed away at home on October 2, 2026.
Born on October 16, 1974, he was the son of the late Bartlett and Florence Murphy. As the youngest child in the family, Bart was the boy his parents had been hoping for. His arrival was so special that his father named his boat At Last, celebrating the son they had finally welcomed into their family. It was a fitting beginning for a boy who would grow up to love life on the water.
Bart was a waterman who loved spending his time on the water. Being on the water was more than just a job to him; it was a way of life and something he truly enjoyed.
Above all else, Bart considered his children to be his greatest accomplishment in life. He was always a kid at heart and had a special love for children. Whether they were his own or someone else's, he simply enjoyed being in their presence. Christmas was his favorite holiday, which seemed fitting for someone who never lost that childlike spirit.
Bart was also one of the best storytellers you could ever meet. He had a way of telling a story without forgetting a single detail, no matter how big or small. His stories were a part of who he was, and those who had the pleasure of listening to them will carry those memories for years to come.
Bart is survived by his seven children, Daphne (Kevin), Cassie (Jamie), Abby, Caleb, Kenzie, Myla, and Levi; his eight grandchildren, Olivia, Ryker, Maddie, Rayleigh, Addison, LJ, Kohen, and Hailee; his three sisters, Teresa (Craig), Karen Sue (Jim), and Pam; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Bart Murphy, and his sibling, Sissy Murphy.
Bart will be remembered for his love of the water, his endless stories, his youthful spirit, and, most importantly, the love he had for his children and family. Though he is no longer here to tell his stories, the memories he created and the stories he shared will live on through those who loved him.
