Randa Henry Murphy passed peacefully at U of Md Shore Medical Center at Easton, Md on Jan 4, 2026. She was born in Portland, Ore on April 15, 1942 to Lt. Col Elmer T Henry and Marybelle Weatherford Henry. As an Army family, the Henry’s lived in Japan, Germany and Governor’s Island, NY. After her father’s Army career, he became an Episcopal priest and the family moved to Minnesota and several cities in Maryland. This change in her father’s career drew Randa to be very devoted to the Episcopal Church.
Randa was educated at St. Agnes Girls’ School in Alexandria Va and earned her Degree in Political Science and History at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio in 1964.
Her career included working at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Washington, DC. She left this position to take care of her ailing father first, and then her mother.
Randa’s first love was her family, but she spent many hours reading and retaining what she read. Her personal library included many books on American history and stories of Native American Indians plus the study of birds. Randa also adored her cats, Liberty and Justice who were adorable additions to her life. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Centreville, Md and P.E.O., a Philanthropic Educational Organization which raises money to educate women.
Randa was predeceased by her brother, Chadwick Henry and leaves behind three nieces, several great nieces and nephews and a beloved cousin, Mary Cameron of Liberty Lake, Washington.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 301 S Liberty St, Centreville, Md 21617 on April 18, 2026 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow immediately in the Church Hall. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions in Randa’s name to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at the address above.
